Tips for Traveling and Flying with Guitars

When flying within Europe, airline crew and staff may decide whether your guitar can be taken into the cabin. Even travel-sized guitars may occasionally be denied.

Checking in your guitar in a hard case as luggage can lead to damage. We’ve had great experiences removing the neck and packing the guitar in regular luggage, well-padded with t-shirts and socks. So far, neither the neck nor the body has ever been damaged this way.

As an alternative, we can provide you with a rental guitar for a small fee - provided by our patner Ibanez, allowing you to fully participate in all exercises, lessons, and jam sessions.

Visa and Entry Requirements for Austria

Before traveling to Austria, make sure to check whether you need a visa. Visa requirements depend on your nationality, the purpose of your stay, and the duration of your visit.

  • EU/EEA/Swiss Citizens: No visa required. A valid passport or ID card is sufficient.
  • Non-EU Citizens: Many travelers from countries like the USA, Canada, the UK, and Australia can enter Austria visa-free for up to 90 days within a 180-day period for tourism or business.
  • Schengen Visa: If you need a visa, Austria is part of the Schengen Area. A Schengen visa allows you to travel within multiple European countries.

Ensure your passport is valid for at least three months beyond your departure date. Airlines and border officials may also ask for proof of accommodation, sufficient funds, or a return ticket.

For the latest information, always check with the Austrian embassy or consulate in your country before traveling.
